Love Nature 4K Announces Greenlight of America’s Wild Border; Launch Date for America’s Wild Seasons

23 September 2019

America’s Wild Seasons to premiere on Love Nature 4K this fall and on Smithsonian Channel in the US in 2020

Blue Ant International oversees licensing of both programmes

Top American wildlife cinematographers capture one American year as never before in Love Nature 4K’s new programmes – America’s Wild Seasons & America’s Wild Border, available for pre-sale via Blue Ant International.

(Jackson Hole, USA – Sept. 21, 2019) – Love Nature 4K announces the international roll out and continued production of new breathtaking, blue-chip natural history projects America’s Wild Seasons (4×60’) and America’s Wild Border (1×60’). The programmes bring together ten of North America’s greatest cinematographers who go coast to coast, tundra to tropics, to capture dramatic stories of survival amid the spectacular tapestry of North America’s four seasons. America’s Wild Seasons is set to launch in Canada in November, followed by 42 territories in EMEA, Asia and Latin America in December and in the US on Smithsonian Channel in 2020. On the heels of this global launch, Love Nature 4K also announces the greenlight of a special bonus episode America’s Wild Border, now in production, which continues this high-production-value series to explore the unique environments and conditions along the 5,525 mile US/Canada border. Both projects are produced by Tamarin Productions and MBM TV in association with Smithsonian Channel. Blue Ant International will handle the licensing opportunities.

“Working with some of the best natural history cinematographers in the world means we were able to capture incredible animal behavior in 4K. We want to bring viewers beautiful sequences of iconic America wildlife stories plus highlight some surprising behaviours,” says Carlyn Staudt, EVP, Love Nature 4K. “Both America’s Wild Seasons and America’s Wild Border are great examples of high-end programmes Love Nature 4K seeks out and commissions.”

“This series allows us to tell the story of America’s wildlife that is as diverse as it is beautiful,” says Tria Thalman, Executive Producer, Natural History, Smithsonian Networks. “Our viewers have a real appreciation for this country’s natural heritage and it’s exactly the type of programming that our audience will respond to for many years.”

Both series utilize the latest technology including 4k ultra high-res cameras, 4k aerial drones, motion capture equipment and miniature and high speed cameras to capture everything from a tiny fish inching its way up a towering waterfall to return to their native freshwater streams, to alligator hatchlings discovering their new home, to enormous humpback whales singing beneath the waves.

America’s Wild Seasons celebrates the splendor of America’s wilderness over the course of four seasons. The series starts with the spring episode, featuring wild mustangs battling on the California plains and sandhill cranes swept up in mating dance fever. It culminates with winter, where the brutal conditions of Yellowstone National Park tests even the toughest bison bulls, while Florida offers a warm reprieve for animals able to make the journey or who are fortunate enough to call it home.

America’s Wild Border narrows the scope to the US/Canada border, the longest international boundary between any two countries in the world. The one-hour bonus episode weaves together wildlife stories to explore how the border impacts their lives, mating, migration and survival. This episode is set to deliver in summer 2020.

America’s Wild Seasons and America’s Wild Border is produced by Bruce Whitty; executive producers Jeff Morales and Lynn Booth. Director of photography Jeff Morales leads award-winning North American cinematographers attached to the projects including John Benam, Mark Emery, Jeff Hogan, Skip Hobbie, Hugo Kitching, Andy Mitchell, Erin Ranney, Adam Ravetch, Neil Rettig and Scott Snider. James Manfull will executive produce the programmes on behalf of Love Nature. The projects are produced by Tamarin Productions and MBM TV in association with Smithsonian Channel. Blue Ant International handles the series licensing.
